We have found an original fighter kite designed and manufactured by world renowned kite artist, Joel Scholz.  Fighter kites have been around for hundreds of years and almost every Asian country has its own version of fighters.  Traditionally these kites are flown from line that has been covered with powdered glass or porcelain to give an abrasive coating with which to sever the flying line of an opponent.  The defeated kite then belongs to the victor.  The movie "Kite Runner" had an excellent display of kite fighting.  Mr. Scholz realized that the U.S. didn't have an indigenous fighter kite of its own, so he set about trying to design a fighter using contemporary materials that would be unlike the traditional fighters of other countries.  After much experimentation he arrived at the "Butterfighter".  This fighter is completely collapsible and also extremely durable relative to other fighters due to the use of modern materials.  Finally, it incorporates a unique feature not seen on other fighters; the balancing spar which allows for the fune-tuning of the kite.
